Cash funds

If you want consistent investment returns, and classify yourself as very risk-averse you may choose a cash fund. Retirement might be just around the corner and you’re comfortable that your returns may not keep up with the rate of inflation in the long term.

Conservative fund

You may choose a conservative fund if protecting the value of your KiwiSaver money is your main investment goal. You know a conservative strategy means your KiwiSaver money isn’t likely to grow much faster than the rate of inflation, and that’s fine with you.

Moderate funds

A moderate fund may suit you if you don’t like seeing big variances in your KiwiSaver money, and are focused on reducing the chance of short-term losses while still feeling comfortable you’ll have enough to live on in your retirement.

Balanced funds

A balanced fund can offer you a balance between good returns and protecting the value of your KiwiSaver money. Negative returns may make you uneasy, but you understand there is some risk to achieve your goal of higher returns over the longer term.

Growth & aggressive funds

You may choose a growth or aggressive fund if you’re broadly comfortable with returns that fluctuate from year to year, and your primary goal is to grow your KiwiSaver account balance over the long term.

Target date funds

One of Aon KiwiSaver Scheme’s Target Date funds may suit you if you want a ‘set and forget’ option where you select the date of the fund closest to your retirement date, and the asset allocation automatically becomes more conservative the closer you get to that date.
